Loudoun cyclists to form advisory committee

Loudoun Cyclists take note …

http://lbrc.org/images/road%20cyclist%20sign.bmpDid you know that Loudoun County is one of the few major jurisdictions in the metropolitan area that does not have a bicycle coordinator on county staff, nor a bicycle advisory committee?

Several cyclists are trying to organize a bike advisory committee that would meet regularly with county staff and lobby the County Board of Supervisors to create and fill a position for a bicycle-pedestrian coordinator.

There will be a meeting on Thursday December 18 at 7 p.m., at the Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Potomac Falls, VA., to gauge interest in forming an advisory committee.

We need to encourage VDOT and the county government to create bike lanes and safer cycling routes in the county.  But that will not happen without your help.
