absolutely ridiculous
What the hell!its a tree.how sad
When I see this tree on the internet, I am amazed. As a child, living in Summerville, SC, my grandparents pastored small churches in the St. John’s area. Our family would go and have a picnic at the site where this magnificent angel oak tree grew. In that day, we would climb the tree as children and have a wonderful time. Even back then, people had carved their initials and spray painted graffiti on it. We never did anything to damage the tree — we just enjoyed its girth! This was over forty years ago. I do not think that any of us realized that the tree is 1500 years old (meaning that it was a seedling in 507 A.D.), that it would be over 65 feet tall and have a shade coverage of over 17,000 square feet! What a powerful example of strength, determination, and survival! Imagine how many people has visited this tree, how many storms this tree survived, how many fires tried to destroy it, and much society and our culture have changed since this tree was planted.I hear now that the property is owned by the cty of Charleston, SC and the tree is braced and fenced in. Oh, to be able to relive those childhood days where people enjoyed the blessings of God without fences, vandalism, and ownership of a tree.
Where can I purchase this photo? Thanks Maura
